Marble · Tandra Grey
A warm limestone that reads in straight horizontal grain rather than veining. The open pores are filled and honed to a soft matte, so it stays quiet under lamplight instead of bouncing it back. This is the easiest of our stones to live with. It sits happily next to oak, boucle and brushed brass, and it takes the chill off a room that leans grey.

The piece
A slender vertical slab with an arch cut clean through it, carrying a floating top plate. From the front it reads as a doorway. From the side it very nearly disappears. The arch is cut out of the block rather than built up from parts, so the grain runs unbroken around the opening, which is the giveaway that it started life as one piece of stone.

Styling it
This is a sofa-arm table. At 60 cm it lands just above a standard seat cushion, so a glass stays within reach without anyone leaning for it. Works at the end of a low sofa, or as a pair either side of a bed.
Caring for Tandra Grey
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Use a neutral pH stone cleaner for marks. Avoid abrasive pads, which will burnish the honed finish unevenly.
