Marble · Light Travertine

A warm limestone that reads in straight horizontal grain rather than veining. The open pores are filled and honed to a soft matte, so it stays quiet under lamplight instead of bouncing it back. This is the easiest of our stones to live with. It sits happily next to oak, boucle and brushed brass, and it takes the chill off a room that leans grey.

The piece

A 20 cm stone column carrying an oval glass top, 60 by 50 cm. Because the glass is clear you keep seeing the stone through it, which is not true of any other piece we make. It is also the widest top in the collection on the smallest footprint, so it gives you somewhere to put a book and a lamp without eating the floor.

  • Oval toughened glass top, 60 x 50 cm, polished edge
  • Solid 20 cm stone column, cut and honed from one block
  • Glass sits on hidden pads, no visible fixings
  • Each piece is unique; veining will differ from the photograph

Styling it

At 45 cm Luma sits slightly below a sofa arm, which is the right height to work as a small coffee table for two chairs. The glass keeps it visually light, so it can go in front of a window without blocking anything.

Caring for Light Travertine

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Because travertine is porous it is sealed before it leaves the workshop; re-seal every 12-18 months and blot spills rather than wiping them across the grain.
