Marble · Tandra Grey
A warm limestone that reads in straight horizontal grain rather than veining. The open pores are filled and honed to a soft matte, so it stays quiet under lamplight instead of bouncing it back. This is the easiest of our stones to live with. It sits happily next to oak, boucle and brushed brass, and it takes the chill off a room that leans grey.

The piece
A curved wedge that rises from a wide base and narrows as it climbs, with a thin tray plate cantilevered off the face at about the right height for a cup or a phone. The curve is cut from solid stone and the tool marks are polished out completely, so the profile runs as one continuous sweep with nothing to interrupt it.

Styling it
Phorro is drawn to be seen from the side, so give it a clear sightline. Beside an armchair works, so does an entry hall. The tray sits low enough to slide part-way under a sofa arm.
Caring for Tandra Grey
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Use a neutral pH stone cleaner for marks. Avoid abrasive pads, which will burnish the honed finish unevenly.
